Here's a series of maps from the official HMSO military history published
after WW2 which will hopefully provide a bit of a guide to my Dad's travels.
They are all around 100K size for download.
The Palestine and Egypt bases in 1939. Showing Sarafand
and Khayat Brach in Palestine and Tel-el-Kebir in Egypt. Also Abbassia
on the outskirts of Cairo where Dad spent much of his time after Alamein.
The route to and from Baghdad in 1941. The 'H' pipeline from Haifa
up to Rutba and Habbaniya and the 'T' back to Tripoli (hence H &
T). Palmyra where there was fighting with the French and Aleppo where
they were stationed in a fig grove.
The terrain between Baghdad and Teheran. Qom is not far
south of Teheran.
